Privacy policy

Last updated August 1, 2026

Kitchen-CEO runs on your kitchen data, so we keep the rules simple: we collect what the app needs to work, we never sell it, and you can delete it whenever you want.

What we collect

We only collect what is needed to track your pantry, plan dinners, and calculate your savings.

  • Account details — your email address and display name.
  • Household data — pantry items, quantities, expiry dates, meal plans, shopping lists, and cook history.
  • Receipt photos — uploaded images are processed to extract item names, quantities, and prices.
  • Usage data — anonymous product analytics such as which screens are opened, used to improve the app.

Receipt photos

Receipt images are sent to our AI provider for text extraction and are deleted from our servers once the items are extracted and shown to you for review. We keep the extracted item text — not the photo.

We do not store payment card numbers from receipts. If a card number appears in extracted text, it is discarded before the items are saved.

Household sharing

When you invite someone to your household, they can see and edit that household's pantry, meal plan, shopping list, and savings totals. They cannot see your account password or any other household you belong to.

Removing a member revokes their access immediately. Data they added stays with the household.

What we never do

  • We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not share your grocery purchases with retailers or brands.
  • We do not use your household data to train third-party AI models.

Why we can use your data

We process your data to provide the app you signed up for, to keep it secure, and to meet legal obligations. Where the law requires consent — push notifications and non-essential analytics — we ask first and you can withdraw it any time in Settings.

Who processes your data

We use a small set of service providers to run Kitchen-CEO. They may only process your data on our instructions:

  • Cloud hosting and database — stores your account and household data.
  • AI provider — extracts text from receipt photos and generates meal suggestions.
  • Payment processor — handles subscription billing; we never see your full card number.
  • Email and push delivery — sends account emails and the reminders you opt into.
  • Product analytics — anonymous usage events used to improve the app.

Google API Services

Kitchen-CEO's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google Calendar data accessed through our integration is used solely to write planned meal events to the user's selected calendar. This data is never transferred to, shared with, or used to train third-party AI or machine learning services.

How long we keep things

  • Receipt photos — deleted after extraction, typically within minutes.
  • Pantry, plan, and cook history — kept while your household is active so savings and streaks stay accurate.
  • Account data — deleted within 30 days of you deleting your account, apart from records we must keep for tax or fraud purposes.
  • Backups — rolling backups are overwritten within 30 days.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it, and household data is isolated so one household cannot read another's. No system is perfect — if a breach affects your data we will notify you and, where required, the regulator.

Where your data lives

Our servers and providers may be located outside your country, including the United States. When data moves across borders we rely on standard contractual protections with those providers.

Your controls

  • Export — request a copy of your household data at any time.
  • Correct — edit any pantry item, meal, or profile detail directly in the app.
  • Delete — deleting your account removes your profile and, if you are the last member, the household and all its data.
  • Notifications — dinner reminders and expiry alerts are opt-in and can be turned off in Settings.
  • Object or restrict — if you are in the UK, EU, or a US state with a privacy law, you can ask us to stop or limit specific processing, and appeal a decision you disagree with.
  • No discrimination — we will not degrade your service for exercising these rights.

Children

Kitchen-CEO is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Family members can be added to a household as names only, with no separate account.

Your privacy choices (GDPR and CCPA/CPRA)

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email hello@kitchen-ceo.com from your account address and we will respond within 30 days.

  • We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing to opt out of.
  • If you are in the EU or UK, you can access, correct, port, restrict, or erase your data, object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority.
  • If you are in California, you can request the categories and specific pieces of data we hold, request deletion or correction, and limit use of sensitive information. We will never discriminate against you for asking.
  • Data deletion requests: email hello@kitchen-ceo.com, or delete your account in Settings and everything is removed within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data we will update this page and change the date above. For material changes we will email you or show a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
